Thirteen Three is a youth initiative of Voice of the Martyrs Australia. Our mission is to empower and mobilise a generation of passionate youth to be bound with their persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ through praying, giving, writing, serving and telling others.
Thirteen Three is inspired by Hebrews 13:3 “Remember the Lord’s people who are in jail and be concerned for them. Don’t forget those who are suffering, but imagine that you are there with them.”

Rescue the Captors details the 142 day kidnapping ordeal Russell Stendal experienced in a remote area of Colombia, South America in 1983. However, God used Russell’s kidnapping to open doors to further ministry with the guerrilla terrorists in Colombia; and he even today ministers to the very same group that held him hostage more than 25 years ago! The unique feature of Rescue the Captors is that it is presented as it happened in Russell Stendal’s own words from the viewpoint of a prisoner writing in a guerrilla camp. Russ’s writing is sincere and authentic and this new edition confirms the significant contribution this book is making in providing insight and understanding in an ever changing environment world missions are facing today. Over 200,000 copies have been distributed so far, most for free at mission’s conferences. Due to the author’s insight, the book was even recommended reading in the White House during the Reagan Administration.
