15-Year-Old Raises $10,000 for Thirteen Three

On Wednesday 22 June 2011, David was just $35 short of reaching his $10,000 fundraising target for Walk With Them, a 415km walkathon he’s doing in the July school holidays from Taree to Lawson NSW.

Thirteen Three called on our facebook friends and twitter followers to help David – and you guys jumped into action! Within the next hour we had received a donation of $36.

David Low, an ordinary 15-year-old from Taree accomplished his goal, thanks to your commitment to support underground Bible school students in Vietnam and Burma through Thirteen Three.

UPDATE: David has raised $25,223.26 to help Thirteen Three support underground Bible schooll students (correct 31 August 2011). Congratulations David!!

David on Prime TV

There has been incredible media interest in David’s Walk for Persecuted Christians.

He has been interviewed on Prime News. His story has been published in the local newspaper. And prominent Christian media in Australia and the UK have approached David about running stories to let people know what he is doing.

Here is his interview on Prime News:

How Much Will David Raise?!

God has blessed this fundraising initiative abundantly and now David is excited to see how far God will exceed his $10,000 target. In his last update he wrote,

Pray that I will reach (or even double!) my goal of $10,000.

We are so thankful to the Lord for David and the many people God has raised up who have caught the vision of training the next generation of Christian leaders in restricted nations.

It’s not too late to support David’s Walk. Thirteen Three needs $30,000 to sponsor 50 underground Bible school students this year.

    Hi David,
I read about you in the latest VOM mag and realised you’re the nephew of my good friend, Mark, so I just had to sponsor you! I’ll be praying that God will enable you to ‘walk and not grow faint’. It is so encouraging and inspiring to see young people passionate about the things that matter to our heavenly Father. May God bless you in this endeavour.
    In Christ,

Hello David, I’m a 62 year old fellow from Warrnambool in Victoria’s southwest. My job is reading meters and I know what it is like to walk hundreds of kilometers in a month in all kinds of weather. It can be tough going. Eat healthily, and keep the fluids up. May I suggest the following: If you are able to get it up there, coconut water is an excellent source of those electrolytes your body will need on your journey. Also avoid ordinary table salt. Instead, put about 1 small teaspoon of sea salt in a litre of water (more if it is hottish) with a small dash of stevia, plus things like carob powder, or liquid chlorophyll. These ingredients are alkalizing for the body – avoid if you can acid producing drinks and foods – your body will produce enough acids throughout the day. By the way lemons are good alkalizes in the body even though they are acidic as to their first state. No doubt you will need a few litres a day. (Use a stainless steel drinking flask; rinse it at the end of the day). Check out these ingredients on the web if you are not familiar with them type in – health benefits of carob etc. Try it first and see how you go with it. I can recommend this kind of drinking as a reliable source of energy and re-hydration. But you might know all this anyway.
In a way I wish I could join you on this quest for the sake of our dear brothers and sisters who lay their lives down for Jesus Christ our Lord so willingly. May the Lord the Good Shepherd give you endurance in this task you have set for yourself. As you walk keep your mind on Jesus who will lead you and walk with you. Meditate on the Scriptures. And lift up the names of some of those you have read about daily as you pound the earth with your shoes. Shoes, take a few pairs and rotate them each day so that they can aerate – pure bicarb soda or, peppermint or tea tree oil in the shoes will help keep them pleasant. Any money you raise, see it as a bonus. I believe the greater thing will be what Jesus will work in you during this time whether you notice it sooner or later. Peace to you in Yeshua’s name. Ian

If you need a place to stay in Penrith we can accommodate 4 people. We would like to join you on the Friday for part of the walk if in Sydney area. I think you are inspiring and I admire your enthusiasm. It is great that you have raised so much for those whom are suffering in the name of Christ.

What an encouragement to your brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray that He strengthens you daily, and that you lift your eyes to Him when your walk becomes difficult or you are weary. Psalm 68:19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens. Jesus suffered Isaiah 53:3-12 and we know that is part of God’s plan for mankind. Suffering produces perseverance, character and hope. I pray these fruit in your life and that He continues to guide and bless you in your Christian walk. In Jesus name!
