UPDATE: Asia Bibi behind bars, in fear for her life

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for Asia Bibi since she was sentenced to death on 8 November 2010 under Pakistan’s blasphemy laws for allegedly insulting the prophet Mohammed.

Here is what has happened since then:

17 Nov: Asia Bibi’s appeal lodged

Mid Nov: Widespread international concern

29 Nov: Court blocks Pakistan’s President from pardoning Asia Bibi

Mid Dec: Islamic cleric promises $6,000 to anyone who kills Asia Bibi

4 Jan: The governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Salman Taseer, is assassinated for opposing Pakistan’s blasphemy laws

Now: Asia Bibi is still in prison

Asia Bibi is still behind bars waiting for her appeal to be heard. Her life is in constant danger as Muslims across Pakistan call for her execution.

Your continued support is vital!

Thirteen Three’s call for Australian youth to be BOUND WITH THEM is more than a tagline. It is a deep commitment to living out our Christian faith. As followers of Jesus, we are one body, one family – when one suffers, we all suffer together; when one rejoices, we all rejoice together (1 Corinthians 12:26).

Here are two things you can do to support and encourage Asia Bibi:

1. Pray: See prayer points here, here and here.

2. Write a letter to Asia Bibi using Voice of the Martyrs’ Prisoner Alert website. Prisoner Alert allows you to write a letter to Asia in Urdu (Pakistan’s national language). Simply select your key phrases, print it off and send it to the address provided. Your letter will be a huge encouragement for Asia to keep trusting Jesus!

Thank you!
