Asia Bibi’s Husband Asks for Prayer

How would you respond if a member of your family was arrested and sentenced to death for a crime they never committed just because they were a Christian?

In this short video interview with Voice of the Martyrs partners in Pakistan, Ashiq Masih, Asia Bibi’s husband, thanks supporters for their prayers and urges us to continue to pray for Asia.

  • There are many others in Pakistan facing the same thing. If they are not taken to court they are often bashed, beaten, and killed by mobs. Many of these mobs are incited by Taliban.

    I just sent the email below to k-rudd. It would be great if he got a few more. If you are not australian, you can contact your own foreign affairs representative. Also, you may like to contact;

    Dear Mr. Rudd,

    I am writing to you because I am deeply concerned about a matter in Pakistan. I have been made aware that a woman by the name of Aasia Bibi has been sentenced to death under Section 295-C of the PPC.

    I am sure you are aware, she was imprisoned in mid 2009, after merely talking to co-workers about Jesus. She suffered a beating and was taken by police on blasphemy charges. For this, she has been sentenced to death by hanging.

    She is not alone. Many Christians in Pakistan have (and still do) face similar fates. Pakistan’s prime minister has pledged to review the blasphemy laws. I fervidly ask you to take this up with him. Given the current media attention this sentence has sparked, it would seem appropriate to pressure him on behalf of the Australian public.

    Sincerely,

    Cameron Hayton
